Know what good workplace policy looks like. Then ask for it.
The National Women's Labor Standards Alliance is a free resource that gives women the research, the standards, and the language to advocate for better workplace policies. No membership. No cost. No catch.

The research existed. Access to it did not.
For decades, the evidence on what makes workplaces work for women has been locked away in academic journals, consulting engagements, and conference rooms that most women will never enter. Employers who could afford the advisors got the insight. Everyone else got a handbook.
NWLSA exists to close that gap. We translate peer-reviewed research into clear, practical standards across ten areas of workplace policy, and we put those standards directly into the hands of the women who need them. What was once available only to those who could pay for it is now available to everyone, at no cost.

Better policy is better business.
This is not a plea. It is a proposition backed by evidence. Organizations that adopt the policies outlined in our ten pillars see stronger retention, deeper talent pools, higher engagement, and lower turnover costs. Every standard we publish comes with the research behind it, because the strongest argument a woman can bring into a meeting is one her employer cannot dismiss.
The Ten Pillars
- 01Pay Transparency
- 02Healthcare Access
- 03Life Event Policies
- 04Flexible Work
- 05Health and Wellness Benefits
- 06Mental Health and Rest Culture
- 07Psychological Safety and Accountability
- 08Career Advancement and Retention
- 09Workforce Reduction Equity
- 10Representation and Leadership
Each pillar defines the standard, presents the research behind it, and lays out recommendations in three tiers: Good, Better, and Best.
